LaNae Dedmond-Edwards is a native of Washington State and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) Veteran of the WA ARNG. During her service, she was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA and assigned to rear detachment for the 792nd CM Co. She served honorably for 2.5 years as a 92A Automated Logistics Supply Specialist.
LaNae joined the Illinois Joining Forces' (IJF) team under the New Sector Alliance Summer Fellowship program as a Community Outreach Specialist in June 2019. Following that, she assumed the role of the Campus Compact Americorps VISTA member, assisting with data research and capacity building. She now serves as the Business Operations Analyst and provides operational support for IJF’s three core programs which include the Care Coordination Center, Veteran Support Communities, and Women Veterans Program.
In addition to her collaborative work within the Veteran community, LaNae continues her dedication to civic engagement and volunteerism as the Personal Development Chair for the Metropolitan Board of the Chicago Urban League, member of the Union League American Legion Post 758, member of the South Chicago Dance Theatre Advisory Board, Tiatros Veterans Program Advisor, member of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance - Greater Chicago Chapter Board of Directors, and Fellow for the New Sector Alliance Residency in Social Enterprise (RISE) Fellowship program. She holds a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Religious Studies from Saint Xavier University and is currently pursuing an advanced degree in law from Regent University School of Law. LaNae’s additional certifications include Mental Health First Aid and Peer Support Specialist training.
