Linnea Hurst joins Illinois Joining Forces as a Residency in Social Enterprise (RISE) Fellow through New Sector Alliance. Originally from Portland, Oregon, she graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa in May 2015 with a major in English.
During the summer of 2013 Linnea interned with the Community Engagement Department of the Institute of Southern Jewish Life, where she piloted a reading program and wrote lesson plans that merged Jewish culture and social justice issues. Linnea was also an intern at the Greater Poweshiek Community Foundation where she spearheaded a survey identifying the unaddressed needs of rural women. Throughout her time at Grinnell, Linnea wrote for the student newspaper and co-edited a student magazine. Linnea is excited to get to know the military community in Illinois and ensure service members, veterans, and their families are able to access the resources that will best help them thrive.
