Senator Craig Wilcox
About
Born in 1967 in El Paso, Texas, Craig grew up in Essex Junction, Vermont, where his parents still reside in his childhood home. He attended college at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and earned a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation he started a 24 year career in the US Air Force, achieving the rank of Colonel. Today, Craig, his wife Janice, and their 3 kids live in McHenry where they have resided since 2013.
Career
Former 24 year active duty Colonel in the US Air Force, served as a combat communications engineer, acquisition officer, Joint Staff officer in the Pentagon, Chief of Staff to European Command Operations Director, and finished his career as a Group Commander supporting Air Force One. He commanded units on three separate occasions, served in combat operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, SouthEast Asia, and in support of efforts in Kosovo, Libya, and around the world. Earned two Bronze Stars, the Legion of Merit and many other awards.
Served on McHenry County Board from 2016-2018 (rst political foray), elected to IL Senate in 2018, running for re-election is what will be his second term.
Business owner with wife Janice, they own The Thoughtfulness Shop and My little Bow Peeps Shop, two retail stores on the historic Woodstock Square. In the acquisition phase for a
third business which would be their third storefront on the Square.
Community Involvement
Former Board of Director for Veterans Network Committee (VNC), which focuses on Honor Flight trips to Wash DC for WW II, Korean, Vietnam, and other conflict veterans to see the memorials, as well as organizing Field of Honors (ag displays honoring IL fallen military).
Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion in McHenry.

Member of McHenry Independents, an Olde Time Baseball Team that travels the state playing baseball by the rules from the 1860’s (no gloves) entertaining crowds and keeping history alive
